Man Hit, Killed By SUV On Route 304 In New City Crash ID'd

ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A pedestrian killed in New City on Friday night after being hit by an SUV has been identified as a 68-year-old resident of New City, according to the Clarkstown Police.

Frederick Maehrlein was hit near the intersection of Route 304 and Congers Road, around 7:30 p.m., closing the roadway for several hours during an accident investigation, said Officer Peter Walker.

The driver remained at the scene and the investigation is still ongoing and there has been no summons issued or arrest made, Walker said.
